Robbie, Nina, and I interview Olivia Somer and Mrs. Byrum for the Quilt Project. This quilt project centers around WWI. The project was done in teams of 3 or 4. This project contained 24 separate construction paper squares. The students were told to follow guidelines and put information in each square. The students had to incorporate aspects of ELA, Writing Skills, and Social Studies. When the students are done, they will tape all of the squares together to form one massive, paper quilt.
Olivia explained that Woodrow Wilson, Archduke Franz Ferdinand, and Vladimir Lenin were important people during WWI. She said WWI started in 1914 and ending in 1918. We asked her what materials do you use and she answered saying we use construction paper, glue, and markers. We asked Mrs. Byrum why she did a project on WWI, she answered, kids around this time are really excited to learn about WWI, WWII, and the holocaust. We also asked how does this impact the students learning, she replied simply that this makes them have a better grip and understand WWI more than just reading a boring textbook.
