Basketball
Basketball is a game played between two teams of five players in which goals are scored by throwing a ball through a netted hoop fixed above each end of the court. Muller Road’s basketball teams played against E.L Wright on Wednesday January 27, 2016. Both teams won with outstanding scores. Although two girls were injured, both teams persevered to win the games. Girls won 22-10 and the boys won 45-30.
We asked for coach Wilcox’s and coach Meyer’s opinions on the game, here are their replies. Coach Wilcox said, “Anytime we can get a win I'm happy. I thought we took much better care of the basketball than we have been. Unfortunately, we suffered some pretty key injuries but I'm confident we have some people ready to step up and help the team.” Coach Meyer said, ”I was very pleased with how we played yesterday; we really focused on cutting down on turnovers and playing team basketball. We tried out a new defensive set and the boys did a really good job adjusting to the new style. The highlight for me were the guys adjusting to new roles. Howard Frazier and Trey Toney have stepped into their starting roles very well and Bryant Williams and Eric Briggs provided some offense off the bench. I think we have turned the corner, and will come out with a lot of intensity next week against Kelly Mill.” Make sure you come watch our game against Kelly Mill to see if the Mustangs keep up their winning streak.
