Career Day
Emma Weiland
As you know, we had a career fair before spring break. Our Career Fair
featured all of the career clusters and multiple jobs within those
clusters. Students went through and experienced what it's like to be
in said career cluster. The Career Fair is an informative way for
eighth graders to decide their future occupations, while sixth and
seventh graders can enjoy this and start deciding what their futures
will hold. Career Fair comes once a year, along with Job Shadowing
day.
I asked a few students about what they thought of the career fair, and
I got some pretty positive results. Claire Cronin told me that, "the
career fair was very interesting, as well as informative. My favourite
job was probably working on the Bomb Squad with the police." Madison
Guider told me about her favourite career, which was working in
Agriculture and Animal Sciences. She [Madison] explained that in the
job that she's interested in, they get to take care of animals and
release them in the wild or transport them to zoos. Ms. Mindi Crisler,
our school's Career Specialist, told me that for the most part,
everything did go as planned. "It was our first year doing an arena
style career fair, so there are a few things that we need to improve
on for next year."
